Atkinson built lorries to last and used tried and tested components like Gardner oil engine, David Brown gearboxes and Eaton axles in a robust ladder frame chassis. Atkins Heavy Haulage of Findern Derbyshire gave their lorries names and URB822 was named "Findern Pride".
