Foden DG 1946
As late as the mid-sixties sights such as this Foden DG with its terrifying load of timber could be seen on Britain's roads before compulsory vehicle plating in 1968 removed most older breeds of lorry to the scrap heap. This eight-wheeler probably had a Gardner six-pot that ran at 1700 max rpm with a top speed of about 28 mph which was probably quite fast enough bearing in mind the limitations of its vacuum-servo brakes.
