This Scammell rigid eight-wheeler is snow-bound on the old A6 during the winter of 1962-3 which was particularly severe and turned diesel fuel into thick sludge. In pre-motorway days a heavy fall of snow would persist for many days whereas today better snow clearance and the sheer volume of traffic soon clear the path.
