The Volvo F88 was one of the forerunners of the more modern type of lorry to appear on Britain's roads in the late 1960s when to see a lorry not of native manufacture was quite rare. Within quite a short time Volvo's advanced specifications, reliability and superb dealer network had made them a market leader and hastened the demise of the British commercial vehicle industry.
