Leyland Octopus

Leyland Octopus

The post-war Leyland Octopus cab was treated to a face-lift in the early fifties with the introduction of the “mouth-organ” cab built on similar lines to its predecessor but with subtle differences and the more obvious slatted radiator grille. This example of Tower Hill Transport is just pulling away from the kerbside after the driver has finished telephoning his base for instructions for his next load just in time for the approaching bus to pick up its waiting passengers. No mobile phones, tachos or sat navs in those days in a time when despite its hardships a life on the road as a lorry driver was still a pleasure.
