Old Seddon
As well as the big boys on the roads of Britain in the golden years the majority of lorries would fall into the category of middle-weight being four-wheelers of perhaps 10/12 ton gross with a pay-load of about 7 or 8 tons and amazingly a sizeable portion of these small fry would be employed on distance work. Here are two examples at the quality end of the middle-weight market, on the left stands a Vulcan 7 tonner and next to it an early Seddon 8 tonner both powered by the famous Perkins P6 diesel engine which produced a mind-boggling 60 bhp at 2000 rpm!
